MACOMB COUNTY (WWJ) - Several police officers were injured Friday evening during the arrest of a man allegedly involved in a fight at a New Baltimore establishment.
Chief Randall Blackburn with the New Baltimore Police Department confirmed with WWJ stating officers were dispatched at 11:13 p.m. on March 15th to the 36300 block of Main Street, near Washington, for an altercation reported at Blind Owl Restaurant and Bar.
When police arrived at the scene, they located a white male allegedly involved in the bar fight, but things quickly went down hill when they went to arrest him.
"As officers went to take the subject into custody, he disobeyed commands and began fighting with officers," the department said in a press release. "Officers from Chesterfield Township Police Department were called to assist. Multiple attempts to taser the subject were ineffective."
Shortly after the final taser deployment, the man was taken into custody and lodged at the Macomb County Jail while charges are pending a prosecutor's review.
Blackburn said several officers sustained cuts and abrasions during the assault on them, but no serious injuries were reported.
Police provided no other information, but said further details will be released once the suspect is arraigned.
