PONTIAC (WWJ) - A Pontiac man has been arrested on gun charges, and officials say he may be involved in the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old girl in October.
27-year-old Jameel Tanzil is facing a charge of felon in possession of a firearm, but officials say charges related to the shooting could be filed soon.
On Oct. 28, 16-year-old Desiree Childs was shot in the leg and chest while walking home with a friend. She was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The friend was uninjured.
Tanzil told police after he was arrested he was in a house nearby on the night of the shooting but said he wasn't involved.
Authorities believe at least one other person is involved in the shooting.
