DEARBORN (WWJ) -- Residents in Dearborn will soon notice heightened police presence as more focus is put on road safety and hazardous driving.
Following conversations with community members, the Dearborn Police Department said the public wants more enforcement of dangerous traffic offenses. In response, officers are rolling out the next phase of their "traffic safety initiative."
"We know that roadways are a critical connection -- especially here in Dearborn -- for commerce, convenience and daily life," said Bartok
Dearborn Corporal Dan Bartok says residents will notice additional police in their neighborhoods as well as main streets, while they patrol and crack down on hazardous driving and other moving violations that directly endanger the public's health and safety.
"The primary objective is to get to a point where drivers are practicing slower, safer driving habits, especially on our residential streets," he added.
Bartok says in addition to patrolling the streets, officers will also be responding to resident complaints in person. He says residents can report traffic-related problems in their neighborhoods online using the department's new Traffic Report System.
