One person in custody after pro-Palestine rally in Royal Oak, police say

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Police say there is one person in custody after an alleged incident at a pro-Palestine protest over the weekend.

Two people were arrested on Dec. 9 during a pro-Palestine rally in Royal Oak, police said.

One person was arrested for disorderly conduct after allegedly trying to get other protestors to walk in the road. A second person was arrested after he got "physically involved," according to police.

The first protestor has been released, but police said the second is still in custody while waiting for the prosecutor to "review charges connected to assaulting and obstructing a police officer."

The scheduled protest occurred at 2 p.m. on Saturday on 4th and Main Streets in downtown Royal Oak, officials said.

Organizers of the protest said the event was peaceful.
