
WARREN (WWJ) - Police in Macomb County are still looking for a driver who escaped after leading officers on a chase overnight.
According to investigators, the driver of a Dodge Charger sped off during a traffic stop just after midnight, in the area of 14 Mile Rd. and Mound Rd. in Warren.
Warren Police pursued the driver, but terminated the chase at Metro Parkway (16 Mile Rd.)where Sterling Heights Police took over.
The driver eventually crashed at 16 Mile Rd. and Schoenherr. But by the time police caught up, they found the vehicle empty.
A K9 team was called in to help search for the suspect, who was described on scanner chatter as a Black male with dreadlocks with blonde tips, wearing a black jacket and gray pants.
Police said they have since identified the wanted man and tracked him to an apartment, but he had not yet been arrested Tuesday morning.
The investigation is ongoing.
No injuries were reported.
