(WWJ) Michigan State Police are searching for a driver who hit and killed a naked man on I-94 in Washtenaw County over the Memorial Day Weekend.

According to officials with the MSP First District, the deadly crash happened early in the morning of Sunday, May 25, along westbound I-94 near US-12 in Ypsilanti.

Police said calls came in at around 2:30 a.m. witnesses who said they saw a man who was not wearing any clothing walking on the freeway.

Troopers and medics made their way to the area, but the man — identified as a 52-year-old Warren resident — had already been hit by a black sedan that did not stop. He died at the scene.

It's unclear why the man was walking nude on the freeway.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.

Officials are asking anyone who knows anything about this hit-and-run to call the MSP Brighton Post at 810-227-1051, and they're asking the driver to turn himself in.

Troopers were assisted by the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, Ypsilanti City Fire Department and Huron Valley Ambulance.
