ROCHESTER (WWJ) - Family members and police in Oakland County are asking for the public's help in locating an elderly woman who disappeared almost two weeks ago - and could possibly be endangered.
According to the Rochester Police Department, Mary Agnes Sullivan, 79, appeared to have left the City of Rochester on June 28th or 29th -- she has not been seen or heard from by family members since.
Sullivan's relatives are now offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to finding the 79-year-old.
She was last seen in Huron County/Bad Axe area on June 29th when a concerned motorist contacted authorities around 6 p.m. According to police, Sullivan was the subject of a welfare check/reckless driving incident while traveling in her gray 2019 Honda HRV with the license plate # DYU-4806.
But when police went to check the area for the vehicle, Sullivan was nowhere to be found.
"Our investigation so far has lead us to the thumb area," Rochester police said in an online statement released on Monday. "We have been in contact with local police agencies there to seek their help as well. Thank you to Mary's family for helping to spread the word by getting flyers out in the area."
The 79-year-old is described as a white female, standing apporximently 5' 9" tall and weighing around 130 lbs. Her hair is worn in a shorter, grey/white hair style. She wears glasses and was last known to be wearing a light blue colored button-up dress shirt or blouse and blue jeans.
Police said that Sullivan is a heavy smoker and tries to pay for items or services by check, which may help the public recognize her. She is a prior California resident and may talk about heading there. She does not own a cell phone and could appear confused or disoriented.
Sullivan and her vehicle were entered into the Law Enforcement Information Network and the National Crime Information Center as a missing person.
Anyone with any information on Sullivan's whereabouts has been asked to contact the Rochester Police Department at (248) 651-9621 or 911. Rochester PD can also be reached via email at police@rochestermi.org. Tipsters are asked to provide complaint number 23-6841.
