DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police are asking for information from the public as they to identify and locate a suspect in an attempted armed robbery in Midtown Detroit.

At around 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, police said the suspect approached a 73-year-old man in the 3600 block of Woodward Ave., near Mack Ave., while armed with a handgun.


According to investigators, the suspect pointed the gun at the victim, and demanded money.

However, police said the victim was able to distract the suspect and run away unharmed.

Police on Monday released a surveillance photo of the suspect, who was wearing dark clothing and a gray knit cap.
