TROY (WWJ) — A Pontiac woman has been charged with her third drunk driving offense after she was pulled over last week in Troy.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 after Troy police officers watched her sit through two light cycles between two lanes of traffic at the intersection of Coolidge and Wattles in her 1997 Chrysler LHS.
When officers went up to speak with the 35-year-old woman, they noticed she was asleep with the vehicle in drive and had her foot on the brake pedal.
When they woke her up and spoke with her, officers said she was "unsteady on her feet," he speech was slurred and she smelled like alcohol.
After failing several field sobriety tests, the woman blew a .199% blood alcohol content on a preliminary breath test — more than twice the legal limit — and she was arrested.
At the Troy Police Lock-Up, she took two chemical breath tests, coming back with results of .235% and .232%.
The driver was charged with operating while intoxicated – 3rd offense. Police have not released the woman's name and have not said where she had been drinking prior to the incident.
