ROMULUS (WWJ) – MDOT crews are gearing up to close a portion of I-275 near Romulus this weekend for pothole repair.
Officials say the poor road condition of I-275 north of Eureka Road “requires immediate replacement of a section of the right lane.”
Crews will close the roughly mile-long stretch between Eureka and I-94 at 5 a.m. Saturday for concrete patching. All northbound traffic will be rerouted onto Eureka during the closure.
The freeway will reopen at 11 a.m., with only one lane open until 5 a.m. Monday as the concrete cures.
To get around the closure, the suggested detour is NB I-75 to NB M-39, then westbound I-94 back to I-275.
MDOT is also reminding Metro Detroit drivers the ramp from eastbound Ford Road to southbound I-275 will close Monday at 5 a.m. until late August. The westbound ramp from Ford Road to I-275 was previously closed through the end of the year.
Other current ramp closures on I-275 to know about:
• The southbound I-275 ramp to eastbound and westbound M-153 (Ford Road) is closed until late August.
• The southbound I-275 ramps to eastbound and westbound I-94 are closed until mid-August.
• The eastbound and westbound I-96/M-14 ramps to southbound I-275 are closed until early September.
• The westbound US-12 (Michigan Avenue) ramp to southbound I-275 is closed until December.
