DETROIT (WWJ) -- You'll want to keep an eye on the sky if you have outdoor plans on Friday in Southeast Michigan.

"Part of the holiday weekend looks nice; we've gotta get there though, and today we may have to dodge a shower or a thunderstorm on a couple of occasions," said WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean DeVore.

DeVore said the first round could come Friday afternoon, with gusty winds and drenching downpours. Another round could come Friday evening, dropping down the humidity and cooling things down in Metro Detroit overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts of up to 60 mph are possible with these scattered thunderstorms, along with hail, lightning and heavy downpours. Some isolated storms may be severe, NWS said, and all of Metro Detroit is in the "marginal risk" area.

Looking ahead into the July 4th holiday weekend, Saturday and Sunday look pretty good.

On Saturday, DeVore said it'll be warm with some sunshine, lower humidity and a high temperature of around 85 degrees, and Sunday will be mostly sunny with highs in the low 80s.

Metro Detroit could see a little bit more rain on Monday, the 4th, when DeVore said it'll be "sticky" with a "pop-up" thunderstorm possible and some sunshine in between. The high Sunday will be in the mid-80s.

DeVore said there are more strong to severe thunderstorms possible once again on Tuesday.
