District-wide power outage forces closure of all Farmington Public Schools
FARMINGTON (WWJ) - The holiday break came early for staff and students of Farmington Public Schools after a power outage forced every school in the district to close on Friday.
A spokesperson for the district confirmed with WWJ that they had to cancel class for the entire district on Friday, December 22, when they discovered a power issue.
School officials said the "outage... affects our Internet, Phones, HVAC, and other systems needed to run school."
The district was scheduled to start their winter break on Saturday, December 23, with officials adding that students are getting one extra day on their vacation.
School is due to reconvene on January 8th, 2024.
According to the DTE Outage Map, there are no widespread outages in Farmington and Farmington Hills.
