(WWJ) A Macomb County man, accused of hitting a school safety officer and principal with his car, faces two count of assault with a dangerous weapon charges.
The Macomb County Prosecutor's office filed the charges against Lemuel Young, 45, last Friday, a day after he allegedly hit the safety officer and principal at Bemis Jr. High School in Sterling Heights.
Investigators say vehicles were blocking the bus lane at the school. When the safety officer asked Young to move his vehicle, he refused. When the officer walked in front of the car, Young moved forward hitting the officer's legs.
The Principal was called to help and asked Young to move, but he didn't move until the Principal walked to the front of the vehicle. He was hit three times.
Young was arraigned on Friday. His bond was set at $10,000. He was also ordered to have no contact with the complaining witnesses, not toto to the school and not to possess any weapons.
“The conduct alleged in this case is shocking and completely unacceptable," Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido said in a statement. "Using a vehicle as a weapon is extraordinarily dangerous and will not be tolerated."
Young will return to court on Thursday, December 11th.
