
OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) - Winter snow sport enthusiasts were faced with rain delays and closures on Tuesday morning when local ski resorts were forced to close their hills.
Warm temperatures and rainy conditions on Monday and Tuesday led officials to call-off activity on its runs at Pine Knob Ski Resort in Clarkston and Alpine Valley Ski area in White Lake.
Alpine Valley said on their Facebook that sessions will remain closed for the day and will resume Wednesday afternoon.
As of 12 p.m., Pine Knob announced all classes have been cancelled for Tuesday as heavier bands of rain started to make their way across the state.
Skiers are urged to stay connected with the two ski resorts on social media for the latest updates.
Mt. Brighton is operating on normal business hours as of late Tuesday morning, but any closures or delays will be announced through their website and social media pages.
Rain and warmer temperatures are expected across the listening area for most of the day Tuesday, according to WWJ's AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean Devore. Highs will reach 55 degrees and rain should taper by the evening hours.
More ski-favorable weather returns overnight as temperatures plummet back into the 20s. Devore said a chance for snow returns Thursday night into Friday where a couple inches of accumulation is expected.
