(WWJ)--Ram is bringing back the powerful TRX trim of its pickup truck.
Five years ago, the first TRX pickup turned heads with a 702 horsepower engine. When it was discontinued, parent firm Stellantis hinted that it could make a comeback. Now it has, with even more power.
“Seven hundred seventy seven horsepower,” says Stellantis director of brands Tim Kuniskis. “Three point five second zero to sixty. Fastest production truck in the world.”
Kuniskis says the TRX will have 680 pound-feet of torque, and a top speed of 118 miles per hour. This is courtesy of a 6.2 litre Hemi V8. Stellantis had briefly discontinued the Hemi engine, but brought it back for the Ram 1500. Now variations of the engine will be on two vehicles, and possibly more long term.
“When the Hemi died, part of my soul died with it,” said Kuniskis. “Bringing back the Hemi enabled us to bring back the TRX as well, neither one of which should have ever gone away.”
The Ram TRX will have a sticker price of around $100,000 when it returns in the second half of 2026.
The vehicle will come with a number of luxury amenities, including a 19 speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, hands-free driving under certain conditions, and leather and suede seats.
The TRX is also equipped for off road driving with 35 inch tires, 11.8 inches of ground clearance, and a rear electronic locking differential, among other things.
There will also be a special “Bloodshot Night” edition, with unique, aggressive looks, including a custom painted “flame red” center stripe.
The TRX will be part of Stellantis revived SRT performance team. It will be the first time in 20 years that a pickup truck will carry the SRT badge.
Kuniskis also announcing that, for the first time the Ram Power Wagon will have an available 6.7 liter high output diesel engine.
“Customers have been telling us for years to put the Cummins in the Power Wagon,” he said. “Matching the Power Wagon with the Cummins turbo diesel delivers everything our hardcore Ram fans expect: off-road capability with the best diesel in the HD segment. It’s the Power Wagon they’ve been waiting for.”
The Ram Power Wagon with Cummins turbo diesel arrives in the second half of 2026 at a starting price of $88,470, including destination.
