(WWJ) Owners of some brand new, big Ram pickup trucks are being advised to park them outside due to the risk of an engine fire.

Fiat Chrysler, which is now a part of Stellantis, is recalling just over 20,000 heavy-duty diesel Ram trucks — mainly in the U.S. and Canada.

WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert reported Tuesday that the company says the 2021 pickup and chassis cab trucks have heater relays that can overheat, and in some cases can cause fires even if the engines are turned off.

There have been three fires, but no injuries reported.

The recalled trucks have 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engines.

Stellantis is developing a plan for repairs, which are not expected to start until next month, around April 30.

Owners of the affected vehicle will be notified.
