DETOIT (WWJ) -- We're midway through October, but don't pack away the shorts just yet

AccuWeather Meteorologist Heather Zehr said the Metro Detroit area is expected to see some record high temperatures early this week.

"It's a pretty good lock that we're going to be able to pass that record high for tomorrow," Zehr said, speaking live on WWJ Newsradio 950 Monday morning, "Today we are giving it a good try, getting up to near 80 degrees, with clouds and sunshine."

The record high for October 12 was set way back in 1879, at 84 degrees.

Tuesday, Oct. 13, it will be even warmer, AccuWeather says, with the high in Detroit expected to get into the upper 80s.

It's going to cool back down, though, after that — feeling a lot more seasonal by next weekend.

Here's a look at the 10-day AccuWeather forecast.
