COLUMBUS TOWNSHIP (WWJ) A delivery truck driver from Redford was arrested and charged in connection to a string of home invasions in St. Clair County, sheriff's officials said.

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office said deputies arrested Deonte King, 32, in connection to five home invasions that occurred between November 28 and December 3rd. The callers reported a delivery driver had been breaking into homes during his route.

Authorities said deputies arrested King after reports of a 6th and 7th home invasion on Saturday, December 6. Deputies were called to Werner Rd.-- in the area of Gratiot Ave. and Division Rd.-- in Columbus Township. The resident reported his home had been broken into.

Law enforcement in the area received a "be on the lookout" for the suspect and the vehicle. They stopped him in "a white box truck near the home" and took him into custody, sheriff's officials said.

Detectives matched most of the stolen goods to their rightful owners.

King was arraigned in 72nd District Court on Tuesday, December 9. He was charged with one count of First Degree Home Invasion and five counts of Second Degree Home Invasion.

His bond is set at $200,000.

St. Clair County Sheriff Matt King urges residents to keep their doors and windows locked, especially when they're away from their house. If residents notice something or someone suspicious, they should call 911.

King also encourages residents to keep track of whether or not they're expecting a delivery.

"Thank you to the road patrol deputies for detailing each incident, allowing for a thorough description of the suspect and vehicle to be compiled...and for detectives to connect the cases," King said. "With the help of local and federal agencies, we were able to locate King and prevent further incidents."
