(WWJ) There's good news in the case of missing child out of Redford Township: She'd been found, and she is safe back with her family thanks to a tip from the public.

Redford Township police asked the public for help in finding 10-year old Maya, who was reported last seen Wednesday night.

Police said the child left the area of Virgil and Wadsworth, in a neighborhood near Plymouth and Telegraph, around 8:15 p.m. with another unidentified child.

Late Thursday morning, after Redford Police released Maya's picture to the public, Chief Jennifer Mansfield said a tip came in about the girl's whereabouts.

"A sharp eyed citizen spotted Maya playing outdoors a short distance into Detroit. She was picked up safely and returned to her family," Mansfield siad.

The chief added: "Parents are reminded to know who their children's friends are and to have contact information for the families of those friends."
