Reward offered for tips on vandalized Veterans Tribute in Oakland Township

OAKLAND TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- A reward is now being offered for information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible for vandalizing the U.S. Military Memorial in Oakland County.

The incident on October 9 resulted in nearly $26,000 in damage by the culprit who smashed an etched glass panel on the Coast Guard portion of the tribute, which is located in the 5200 block of Adams Road in Oakland Township

Executive director of the memorial, Timothy Reese, says insurance is expected to cover the cost of the damage.

Reese also says they are hoping to install a professional security system, and they are asking the public for donations to help fund it on their website.

Anyone with information on the act of vandalism is asked to contact the Oakland County Sheriff's Office at (248) 858-5000.
