DETROIT (WWJ) Michigan State Police are investigating a freeway shooting on I-94 on Detroit's east side that apparently stemmed from road rage, they said.
In a social media post; State Police said the Detroit Regional Communication Center received a call from a driver who said someone had shot at his car. Troopers arrived at the scene on the westbound side of the freeway near Conner on Saturday, March 29th, around 11:40 p.m. They found one bullet hole in the caller's vehicle, police said.
The caller told police he was "road raging" with the driver of a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee when the Jeep sped past him and slammed on its brakes. The Jeep then drove away, the caller reported.
Shortly afterward, the caller said he spotted the Jeep parked on the side of the freeway and heard three gunshots. He also told police he saw the muzzle flashes as he drove away at freeway speeds, according to investigators.
No injuries were reported.
State Police said they canvassed the area, but did not find any further evidence. The investigation continues.
"It is only driving." First Lieutenant Mike Shaw said. "There is no reason to get involved in arguments with other drivers, let alone use a gun in that argument. If you happened to see this road rage incident, contact 855.MICH.TIP or Crime Stoppers at 800.SPEAK.UP."
