MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - A pedestrian was killed over the weekend after authorities said he was struck twice by vehicles while on Gratiot in Mount Clemens.
According to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, the victim, a 44-year old from Roseville, was in the road near M-49 and Abington Circle North early Sunday morning when he was hit by a Chevy Silverado headed south.
The driver of the Chevy immediately dialed 911, but as they were on the phone, a second car -- identified as a Ford Taurus -- also struck the man as he was on the ground.
Sheriff's deputies were dispatched around 5 a.m., but the man was pronounced dead on the scene.
Deputies said the Sheriff’s Office Crash Team provided on-scene investigation. Both drivers involved in the incident remained at the site of the crash and are cooperating with authorities.
"There were no signs of intoxication or foul play from either driver," deputies said in a prepared statement.
The incident remains under investigation. It remains unclear why the man was in the road.
