ROSEVILLE (WWJ) — A Roseville man who allegedly beat his roommate to death following an argument this winter has been bound over trial.
Judge Joseph Boedeker on Tuesday ordered 54-year-old Mark Newsome to stand trial for second-degree murder in connection with the death of 72-year-old Dale Mitchell.
Newsome and Mitchell allegedly got into an argument on Jan. 31 and it escalated to violence, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.
During the fight, Newsome allegedly punched Mitchell in the head multiple times. Mitchell later died of his injuries.
Newsome is being held at the Macomb County Jail without bond.
"We are committed to ensuring that justice is served for the victim and his family," Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido said, per a press release.
Officials have not released any other information about the deadly fight, including what started the argument.
Authorities did not disclose the trial's start date.
