ROYAL OAK (WWJ) -- More than just bookworms were found at one local library, which closed for the day while they dealt with the problem.
The Royal Oak Public Library said it plans to reopen to the public on Wednesday, after bedbugs were found in the building during a monthly inspection.
The library did not find any of the bugs in the processing areas, so books that were recently checked out should be okay... but some bugs were found in a seating area.
Tuesday morning, officials at the library said they would handle the situation and re-open when it was safe to do so.
Tuesday afternoon, the library issued an update, stating: "The pest control company has treated the affected areas and furnishings. The Library will re-open to the public tomorrow, Wednesday 7/29/26, at 9am. Thank you for your patience!"
