Royal Oak Twp. residents wake up to shots fired at apartment complex, police search for suspects

ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A spray of bullets hit a vehicle and an apartment complex early Tuesday morning in Oakland County, investigators say -- and now the search is on for those responsible.

According to Michigan State Police, gunfire was reported around 4 a.m. at an apartment building on Kings Place near Fitzgerald Boulevard in Royal Oak Township.

A number of calls came pouring into 911 about the incident and police were immediately dispatched.

When troopers arrived at the scene, they discovered a vehicle and the building were struck by bullets. Shell casings were found and collected as evidence in the case, police added.

No injuries were reported and the suspects are believed to have fled from the area.

State police said the investigation remains ongoing.
