THOMAS TWP (WWJ) -- Divers from several counties are working to recover the body of a 26-year-old boater who capsized in a mid-Michigan river early Sunday morning.

At around 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 12, Nathan James Robbins of Saginaw County was boating on the Tittabawassee River with a friend.

When their aluminum boat stalled, Robbins attempted to get it running again. As he worked to restart the water craft, his sweater got caught in a part of the motor. Efforts to untangle the sweater caused the vessel to flip over.

Although his friend was able to swim to shore and call for help, Robbins is still missing.

The Saginaw County Sheriff's Office and the Thomas Township Fire Department have headed up the rescue-turned-recovery mission.

Assisting them are divers from Oakland and Genesee counties.
