ALLEN PARK (WWJ) -- An investigation is ongoing in Allen Park, according to police, after a reported barricaded gunman situation led to a school lockdown in the Downriver community on Thursday.

Late Thursday morning, Allen Park Police said they were trying to negotiate by phone with a barricaded suicidal person, inside a house on Becker near Wick Rd.

The public was asked to avoid the area while police dealt with the person.

As a result of the situation that home, Lindemann Elementary, at Beck and Wick, was on lockdown as a precaution. There was no direct threat to students at any time, and no reports of anyone hurt.

The public was asked to avoid the area, until the school lockdown was lifted at around 12:30 p.m.

Police said officers have cleared the area and there is no longer a threat to the public. However, police said it does remain an active investigation.

No further details have been released, and it's unclear if there have been any arrests.
