ROYAL OAK CHARTER TWP. (WWJ) - The search of a suspect, who police say is a convicted felon, revealed a stolen gun and an extended magazine, authorities said.

Michigan State Police troopers were called to a business in Royal Oak Township on March 11. The call was regarding a retail theft complaint, according to a Tweet from the MSP Second District.

The investigation found that the suspect had a felony warrant for “resisting and obstructing," the Tweet said.

Once the suspect was located, a search found a stolen 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol around the suspect’s neck on a lanyard. An extended 40-round magazine was found under six layers of the suspect’s clothing, according to authorities.

The suspect was taken to the Oakland County Jail until the prosecutor reviews the case.
