WEST BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) -- Police have executed a search warrant at a West Bloomfield home where three children were killed in a fire.
According to the West Bloomfield Police Department, detectives and Fire Department personnel were on the scene Tuesday — on Pembury Lane, near Orchard Lake Rd. and 14 Mile Rd. — to further the circumstances surrounding Sunday night's tragic fire.
Police and the firefighters responded at around 8 p.m. on Feb. 2 to a 911 call from a teenage girl, who said she and her younger siblings were trapped in their burning house. Firefighters arrived to find the door locked, forced entry, and searched through smoke and flames to find the three kids.
All three — ages 16, 15 and 12 — were pulled out of the home and taken to a hospital where they died.
Many questions have been raised in the case: including whether there were working smoke detectors in the home, and why the kids were unable to escape.
While the cause of the fire is still unknown, officials said warrant will allow them to determine what happened.
Once the investigating is complete police will send their findings to the Oakland County Prosecutor's office for review, to determine if there could be any charges in the case.
