WEST BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) -- A HAZMAT crew responded to contain a small fuel spill after a semi-truck overturned into Pine Lake in West Bloomfield, Monday evening.
The crash happened just after 6:20 p.m. on Aug. 3, off Orchard Lake Road, between Seminary Drive and Indian Trail.
According to police, the truck driver lost control while navigating a curve, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and roll into the lake.
The driver, a 42-year-old man, escaped with only a minor leg injury, police said. Reports said he was found sitting on top of the overturned truck when first responders arrived.
The driver was the only person in the truck, and no one else was hurt.
Police said "a small amount of fuel" from the truck did enter the lake.
Oakland County HAZMAT the Sheriff's Office Technical Rescue Team and environmental cleanup crews all responded to contain the fuel and protect the lake.
Police said alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor.
