Shelby Township man faces federal charges for violent threats against ex-wife, judge

(WWJ) A Shelby Township man is charges in federal court for allegedly threatening his ex-wife and a judge handing their divorce proceedings.

In a criminal complaint filed in US District Court, an agent with an FBI violent crimes task force in Macomb County said Vires Al-Hakiem sent the victim threatening text messages stating, among other things, that he intended to kill her.

As detailed in court documents, one of texts sent from Al-Hakiem's phone included an attached video.

In the video, the agent said Al-Hakiem, appeared shirtless, pointing a handgun at the camera as he “You see that gun? I put it inside your head and will empty 17 bullets in your f— head and go show this to f— judge what I say.”

The feds said the messages left the suspect's ex and the Macomb County judge in fear for their lives, and prompted county sheriff's deputies to conduct security patrols at the judge's home.

Al-Hakiem, 42, is a construction worker, a native of Iraq and a citizen of the Netherlands with no legal status in the U.S., according to the FBI. He has previous convictions for assault and cocaine possession dating back to 2005, the FBI said, and was arrested in Sterling Heights for possession of a concealed spring loaded switch blade on Sept. 23 of this year.

In this case, Al-Hakiem is charged with stalking and transmitting a threat.
