DIMONDALE (WWJ) - State police have given the all-clear for residents in Eaton County after a police investigation into the deaths of two people prompted a brief shelter-in-place request earlier Thursday morning.

Michigan State Police said troopers with their Lansing Post are on the scene of an active investigation which involves two deceased victims on Cherry Street in Dimondale.

Police have only confirmed the deaths, but no other details were provided.

Police requested a shelter-in-place alert for residents in the area around 6:18 a.m. on Feb. 16. Roughly 25 minutes later, police found no threat to the public and lifted the order at 6:42 a.m.

Officials had originally asked citizens to avoid the area as the situation unfolded. Details about the investigation are unclear, but police are still at the scene.

Earlier, MSP said schools in the area are on a delay.

More details about what led to the deaths and the shelter-in-place order are expected to be released at a later time.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned to WWJ LIVE for the latest updates.
