DETROIT (WWJ) — A suspect is in custody after a shooting on Detroit's west side Wednesday afternoon that left one person dead.
Detroit police officials tell WWJ the shooting happened around 1 p.m. on July 31 on Stahelin Street — near W. Chicago and the Southfield Freeway — a couple blocks north of Stein Playground.
A 20-year-old man was killed in the shooting, which remains under investigation.
Authorities have not released a possible motive in the case or any information about the shooter.
Officials are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or anyone who knows something about it to call the Detroit Police Department's Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
