DETROIT (WWJ) Detroit Police are working to identify human bones found in a home on the city’s west side and to figure out how they got there.
Police say they were dispatched to the home on Wendell in the area of 8 Mile and Van Dyke around 10:30 a.m. Saturday after someone reported a Jane Doe or John Doe’s "skeletal remains" inside the house.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will attempt to determine the sex of the victim and the cause of death. It's unclear if foul play is believed to be involved.
In late April, a land bank worker found a full skeleton lying on a couch just about a mile away (in the area of 7 Mile and Van Dyke) as he preparing to sell an abandoned house.
No other information has been released at this time about today's grisly discovery.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Detroit Police Department’s Homicide Unit at (313) 596-2260.
