Small plane crashes at end of runway at Oakland Southwest Airport, no injuries

NEW HUDSON (WWJ) -- A small plane crashed at Oakland Southwest Airport in New Hudson, but the two men on board weren't hurt.

Authorities said an instructor and student were doing touch-and-go maneuvers in the Piper Cherokee PA28-140 aircraft at around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, when the plane crashed at the end of a runway.

Officials said there were two adults males on board.

There were no injuries reported, but witnesses said the was a lot of damage to the plane.

It's unclear if it was pilot error or something else that led to the crash. Investigators from the FAA and NTSB were called to the scene.

Officials said the airport would be closed until the damaged plane could be move to a hangar.
