Police searching for suspect in smash-and-grab at 7-Eleven in Downtown Detroit [VIDEO]
DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit Police have identified a suspect in connection with an early-morning smash-and-grab in the downtown area.
It happened Friday, at a 7-Eleven convenience store on Jefferson Ave. near Chene.
Reporting from the scene, WWJ's Charlie Langton said the suspect did plenty of damage to the storefront, but didn't get away with very much merchandise.
Investigators are now looking for a man who was not wearing a shirt or shoes when her smashed through the front door, went inside for just a minute, and ran off with cigarettes and a couple of other items.
He was seen breaking into the store on surveillance video, police said, telling Langton that they do believe they know the suspect, and have dealt with him in the past.
No injuries were reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
