(WWJ) A meeting on Snapchat led to a two hour Uber ride and ultimately criminal charges for a Northville Township man.
Police say Charles Willis, 22, was arrested Sunday after executing a search warrant at his home near Seven Mile and Sheldon.
Investigators allege Willis contacted the victim, 14, through Snapchat last Friday. He then paid for an Uber to bring the girl, who lives in west Michigan, to his house.
The teen told detectives she was told to stay in the basement. Early Sunday morning, the girl was found walking alone near Seven Mile and Sheldon roads.
Willis was arraigned Wednesday at the 35th District Court on charges of kidnapping, enticing a female under 16 for immoral purposes, child sexually abusive activity and criminal sexual conduct – first degree. Bond was set at $1 million. Willis is behind bars at the Wayne County Jail.
Northville Township investigators say Willis is known to other police departments related to sexually inappropriate behavior and attempts to entice girls.
Police are asking anyone who believes they or their child may have been in contact with Willis, or may be a victim, to contact the Northville Township Police Detective Bureau at (248) 349-9400.
