(WWJ) Keep an eye out for ice.

A slick, wintry mix could make for treacherous driving conditions in metro Detroit overnight, and into the morning commute.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of Southeast Michigan, in effect for all of southeast Michigan in effect from 10 p.m. Tuesday until 9 a.m. Wednesday.

NWS forecasters say 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected, but WWJ AccuWeather Dean DeVore said she biggest issue in the Detroit area likely will be icy roads and freeways.

"The weather worries go up later tonight and continue into tomorrow morning, with wintry mix," DeVore said. "It's a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain... maybe a coating to inch or so in the city."

DeVore said conditions are expected to worsen as you get father into areas north and west of Detroit, where more snow could pile up.

DeVore said perception should change over to plain rain as temperatures in Southeast Michigan get up into the low 40s Wednesday afternoon.

There could be few flurries flying Wednesday night, before another batch of wintry mix hits the area on Thursday.

"This is centered on New Years Eve, continuing into New Years morning," DeVore said, warning: "It could get icy again."

DeVore said Metro Detroiters can expect more rain on Friday, ahead of a seasonably cold and dry weekend, with temps in the 30s.
