(WWJ) The southbound Southfield Freeway (M-39) was shut down for a time, Tuesday afternoon, as Michigan State Police continue to investigate a possible shooting.
According to officials with the MSP Second District, at around 11:40 a.m. police were notified about possible shooting on southbound M-39 near I-96.

"A ShotSpotter activation was reported in the area; however, at this time, a freeway shooting has not been confirmed," MSP said.
Southbound M-39 was closed from Plymouth Road to Joy Road while troopers were searching the freeway for possible shell casings and other evidence.
It's unclear if anyone was injured.
The freeway reopened at around 2:40 p.m.
Police said further will be provided as more information becomes available.
