DETROIT (WWJ) -- Charges have been filed against a man who allegedly shot at another driver on the Southfield Freeway.
According to Michigan State Police, this happened two weeks ago, on Aug. 25, near Joy Road in Detroit.
MSP said investigators determined that there was a road rage incident, and that the suspect pulled out a pistol and fired one shot into the victim’s vehicle.
Metro South Post troopers, assisted by detectives from the MSP 2nd District SIS and the 2nd District Fugitive Team, were able identify a suspect in the case. Investigators got a warrant and went to his house, where they found his car and a gun.
While talking with detectives, the suspect confessed to the shooting, police said.
The other driver suffered minor injuries from glass and bullet fragments.
The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, is now facing an eight-count felony warrant issued by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.
Officials with the MSP Second District said, in a statement: Road rage should never turn into gun violence. A moment of anger behind the wheel can have life changing consequences for everyone involved. If another driver is acting aggressively, don’t engage or retaliate. Create distance, get to a safe location and call 911 when appropriate. Our troopers and investigators will continue working to identify those who use firearms on our freeways and hold them accountable."
