Southgate man busted for sending nude photos to 13-year-old girl: prosecutors

SOUTHGATE (WWJ) -- A 35-year-old Downriver man is facing a felony charge after it's alleged he had inappropriate conduct with a child over social media.

Shawn P. Frances of Southgate is a family friend of the victim, who is only 13 years old, according to to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

It's alleged that Frances used social media to send new photographs of himself to the girl, and that he asked the girl to send him nude photos of herself as well.

Prosecutors said Frances also tried to meet with the child.

The victim's mother discovered the communications between her daughter and Frances, and immediately called Southgate Police.

Following an investigation, Frances was arrested on Wednesday, July 29, and was arraigned over the weekend on one count of enticing a minor for immoral purposes.

Bond was set a $10,000/10%, with a GPS tether, and a probable cause conference was scheduled for July 15.

Frances faces up to four years in prison, fines of up to $4,000, or both if convicted as charged.
