HURON TWP. (WWJ) -- Tips are wanted as police investigate the mysterious case of a missing woman and a car crash in Wayne County.
The Huron Township Department of Public Safety says the investigation began just after 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, when a report came in that a car had crashed in the backyard of a home on Hannan Road, near the Huron River in Huron Township.
The homeowner said the driver of the vehicle was nowhere to be found.
Police responded and searched the area for the driver, identified as 43-year-old Kimberly McGrath of Southgate.
Further investigated found she wasn't at her home, her family didn't know where she was, and they hadn't seen or spoken with her since the previous day.
McGrath has since been reported missing by her family.
Authorities conducted an extensive search of the area near where McGrath's car was found, including a water search of accessible parts of the Huron River by Huron Township Fire Department. Huron Township Police, the Huron Township Fire Department, Metroparks Police, and Michigan State Police have conducted an aerial search using drones, and a K9 ground search.
McGrath remained missing as of Tuesday.
She is described as a white female, 5'7'' tall and weighing 160 lbs. She's believed to be without her cell phone.
Anyone who may have seen McGrath, or who may have information that could help with this case, should call the Huron Township PD at 734-753-4400.
