SAGINW COUNTY (WWJ) - One man is dead and a woman is injured after the vehicle they were traveling in along I-675 in the Tri-City area crashed into a guardrail and careened into a ditch on Friday evening.

Michigan State Police from the Bay Region responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m. after the single-vehicle crash was reported on northbound I-675 at the I-75 south interchange.

Troopers said a 60-year-old Saginaw man appeared to lose control of his 2022 Dodge Charger and crashed into a guardrail before wrecking in a ditch.

The man was fatally injured while a 53-year-old woman from Millington, who was riding in the passenger, seat sustained minor injuries. Police did not release their identities.

The area was closed off to drivers as MSP Traffic Reconstruction and Saginaw County Crash Teams responded. The road has since been reopened.

Troopers said the fatal crash remains under investigation, but speed and alcohol both appear to be factors in the case.
