Speeding driver jumps curb, crashes sideways into front door of home on Detroit's west side [VIDEO]

DETROIT (WWJ) -- For the second time in a week, a car smashed straight into a home.

This time it happened on Roselawn, near 7 Mile Rd. and Livernois., on Detroit's west side, at around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Charlie Langton reports extensive repairs will have to be made on the home after the car smashed into the front door.

Detroit Police investigators believe the driver was speeding at more than 50 miles-per-hour, in a 25 miles-per-hour zone.

The car jumped the curb, hit a utility pole, and then flew sideways into the home.

The injured driver, a man, was trapped in his vehicle and had to be rescued by first responders.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.

Residents of the home were asleep in their beds at the time of the crash, and police said no one inside the house was hurt.

The car has since been removed from the home, leaving behind a massive hole.

Detroiter Brianna, who lives in the area, says there's too much speeding in the neighborhoods.

"I'm seeing that people is doing 50 in a 25; that's crazy!" she told Langton. "It don't make no sense — especially for you to be running into a house on side streets. It don't make no sense. It's sad."

The investigation is ongoing, with police still on the scene late into the morning.
