MARINE CITY (WWJ) A St. Clair County man was charged with over a dozen felonies related to child sexually abusive material and other crimes, police said.

Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force took Kristopher Steward, 42, of Marine City into custody last week.

The arrest stems from an ICAC investigation after authorities received multiple cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

A judge arraigned Steward in the 72nd District Court of St. Clair County on Friday, August 14.

He's charged with one count of aggravated sexually abusive activity (distributing or promoting), three counts of child sexually abusive material possession, two counts of accosting children for immoral purposes, one count of distributing obscene material to children, and seven counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

If convicted on all counts, he faces up to 59 years behind bars.

The MSP Computer Crimes Unit encourages parents to speak to their children about safe use of the internet. There are many resources available to assist in keeping children safe online.
