St. Clair County man dies in rollover crash after his pickup truck slips on ice: police

KENOCKEE TOWNSHIP, MICH. (WWJ) A man from the Thumb Area died in a rollover crash in St. Clair County after his pickup truck slipped on ice, sheriff's officials said.

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened on Saturday, January 10, at approximately 7:24 p.m. in Kenockee Township-- about 20 miles northwest of Port Huron.

According to sheriff's officials; he lost control of his 2016 Chevrolet Silverado while driving northbound on Kilgore Road, north of Imlay City Road, after he struck ice. The pickup truck veered off the left-hand side of the roadway, entered the west ditch of Kilgore Road and overturned once.

The driver was thrown from the pickup, according to authorities.

First responders performed CPR at the scene. They rushed him to McLaren Port Huron Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He was identified as a 37-year-old Kenockee Township man. His name was not released. Deputies informed his family.

Sheriff's officials do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors.
