MEMPHIS, Mich. (WWJ) — Police are investigating after a bomb threat prompted the evacuation of a St. Clair County school Tuesday afternoon.
911 dispatchers got a call from the National Suicide Hotline shortly after noon, reporting they had been texting with a person "claiming to have placed multiple pressure cooker bombs in various men's bathrooms" at Memphis Junior/Senior High School.
Students and staff at the school were immediately evacuated to the nearby elementary school, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office.
Explosive detection K9 units were deployed at both Memphis Junior/Senior High School and the elementary School, officials said.
Authorities found no evidence of a credible threat at either school. Students returned to classes as normal for the remainder of the day following the search.
