(WWJ) A man is dead and the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office is trying to find the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash, early Monday morning.
Investigators said 34-year old Thomas Israel of St. Clair was riding a bicycle when he was hit by a vehicle at around 3:30 a.m. on M-29 near Martinsdale Court in Cottrellville Twp., which is east of New Baltimore.
Israel, who was found in the roadway along with his bike, was pronounced dead by EMS at the scene.
As of Monday afternoon, St. Clair County detectives were still working to identify a suspect in this case. There is no description of the vehicle at this time.
The sheriff's office is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or aftermath to call Det. Silver at 810-987- 1727.
