ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) -- A football coach at a high school in Macomb County has been fired after a fight during a game.

The administration from Lake Shore High School, in St. Clair Shores, has confirmed that a parent left the stands during Friday night's varsity football game at Warren Woods Tower and was involved in a physical altercation with one of the assistant coaches.

The coach was released from the coaching staff, and both the coach and the parent involved are not being allowed on Lake Shore property or at any future events.

According to reports, video surfacing on social media shows a parent walking onto the football field and walking up to the coach before punching the coach in the head. The coach fell to the ground as other players and coaches jumped in to break up the fight.

Lake Shore's Principal Dr. Janelle Bross said in an email to parents that the behavior of the two men involved did not meet community expectations.

The complete letter sent to Lake Shore families from the school reads as follows:

"Hello, Shorian families - at last night's away varsity football game, we have confirmed that a Lake Shore parent left the stands and went down to the field during the game. While on the sidelines, the parent was involved in a physical altercation with one of our coaches. The coach has been released from our coaching staff and neither he nor the parent will be allowed on our property or at any future LS events. We are incredibly disappointed in the actions of these two men - this behavior is well below the expectation we have for all members of our school community.
Wishing you all a lovely rest of the weekend,
Dr Janelle Bross
Principal, LSHS"

It's not clear if any criminal charges may be filed.

The school did not release the coach's name.
