HARPER WOODS (WWJ) -- One person is dead and another is in the hospital after what investigators say was an attempter murder/suicide in Harper Woods.
According to Harper Woods Police, this happened early in the morning Friday on Hunt Club Drive, in a neighborhood near Eight Mile Rd. and I-94.
Police said — in the middle of the street, at around 2 a.m. — a man in his 40s stabbed a man in his 20s, and then shot himself in the head.
Family told police the two men were in a dating relationship.
They had been out celebrating the older man's birthday and they were drinking, police said.
The man in his 40s was dead on the scene. The man who was stabbed was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
It's unclear what led up to the violence.
The investigation is ongoing.
